Architectonische belettering, Cento’s publicaties, 1983

>Wunderkammer

cover

In 1983 I graduated at Academy St. Joost in Breda. My final exam project was a publication about architectural lettering which I finally managed to put together thanks to the coaching by Ton Homburg. The A3, spiral bound publication contains an essay on lettering in architecture and treats the history of lettering in four periods: arts & crafts (Amsterdamse School), De Stijl, Constructivism and Modernism. It also contains interviews with the architects Herman Hertzberger, †Ben Kraaijvanger and Carel Weeber as well as two of my own design studies. I am preparing a properly scanned pdf download version.

Background information> my teachers at St. Joost between 1979 and 1983 were: †Jan Begeer (graphic design, design history), †Chris Brand (type & lettering), Henk Cornelissen (typographic design), Tom Klinkowstein (photography and media), Geert Setola (Illustration) and Wim Smits (3D design).
